This Privacy Policy explains what information MoodWeather collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. We've tried to write it plainly. By using the site, you agree to the practices described here.

Information we collect

MoodWeather is designed to work with as little personal information as possible. We do not require you to create an account or provide your name or email to use the site.

• Location: if you share precise browser location, it is used to fetch current conditions and is not stored on our servers. If precise location is unavailable or declined, the site automatically asks ipapi.co for an approximate city and coordinates based on your IP address, then uses those coordinates to request weather. You can also search for a city manually.
• Usage data: like most websites, we may collect anonymous, aggregated analytics (such as pages visited and general region) to understand how the site is used and improve it.
• Preferences: small pieces of data such as your light/dark theme choice are stored locally in your browser, not on our servers.
• Mood tracker entries: if you use the mood tracker, its dates, mood words, ratings, optional weather context, and notes stay in this browser's local storage. They are not uploaded to MoodWeather. You can export them as a CSV or delete them from the tracker at any time.
• Newsletter: if you choose to subscribe, we collect the email address you provide, and only use it to send the newsletter you signed up for.

Cookies and local storage

We use cookies and your browser's local storage to remember your preferences (such as your theme and consent choices), keep optional mood tracker entries on your device, and support analytics and advertising as described below. Clearing site data also deletes local tracker entries unless you export them first.

Advertising

This site may display ads served by third-party advertising partners, including Google AdSense. We do not load the advertising service before you choose Accept all. If you reject non-essential use, MoodWeather does not load ads or analytics. Advertising partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites after consent.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. Third-party services

To provide the site we rely on third-party services, which may process limited data according to their own privacy policies. These include ipapi.co for approximate IP-based location when precise browser location is unavailable, Open-Meteo for current conditions and city search, analytics providers, advertising partners, and our newsletter provider if you subscribe. An IP lookup necessarily exposes your IP address to the lookup provider; MoodWeather does not store the lookup response on its own servers.

Your choices and rights

You can decline precise browser location; in that case the automatic IP lookup may provide an approximate city, and a manual city search can replace it. You can also decline personalized advertising, clear cookies and local storage at any time, and unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in any email. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your data under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, including the right to access or delete personal data we hold. Children's privacy

MoodWeather is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page. Your continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
